The first section we study this year will last approximately 3 weeks and cover the basics of geographical terms, how to read maps and globes, distinguishing between land masses (such as continents, countries and islands), relearning or learning the 7 continents, the Earth's grid system (hemispheres, the equator, prime meridian, longitude and latitude lines), time zones and why people settle were they did (climate, resources, natural boundaries and other important considerations).
