World History Unit 5 The Fertile Crescent Lesson Plan 06– 09 January 2015
Introduction
The Tigris and Euphrates rivers were the source of life for the people of Mesopotamia. In the spring, melting snow picked up tons of topsoil as it rushed down from the mountains and flooded the land. The floods left this topsoil on the plan below. Farmers grew crops in this soil. The rivers also supplied fish, clay for building and tall, strong reeds used to make boats.

Vocabulary Group
Students will complete writing sentences for this units vocabulary words. Once sentences are completed student will complete both a word scramble and word find. Once this is completed and turned in students will use the prepared flashcards to quiz each other on vocabulary words.
Small Group (Book)
Students will read pages 30-58 and complete the guided reading handout. Students will write down questions they have as they read or with the study guide and then be prepared to ask them in small group time with the teacher.
Computer Group
Students will go to Brainpop.com and complete the assignment "Sumerians". Student will email the results to
