This page is designed to provide the students with additional resources to help reinforce what they have learned in school. I will place links to websites that have activities that will help the students learn specific skills or to films I think illustrate specific points.
I noticed that a few students had difficulty or had never had exposure to learning the seven major continents so I have given them a map to study. In addition here are a few links to websites with activities involving the continents for the students to engage in.
I have already given students a blank copy of the continent map to study and label at home based on their interaction with the videos and the websites below. Students should practice this a view times to ensure they have a firm grasp of where the major continents are so that when we are talking about the cultures in world history they will have some idea where in the world they are located. Students by the end of this unit should be able to locate the 7 major continents and 4 major oceans in the world.

I passed this rubric out in class on 27 August 2014 for our first project in World History. Students are to pretend that they are explorers and have located an unknown land in the middle of one of our oceans or seas. They are to draw or create a map using the guidelines in the rubric. The must use longitude and latitude lines that do not already cross any known land areas when determining their new continent or land's absolute location.

This is designed to help the students learn not only the names of the continents but also a little bit about the diversity found on each continent.
This is a copy of the students book assessment required to be turned in by 29 August 2014.
